The 3rd Bhadohi Open Rapid Chess Tournament 2026 was successfully organised at Sunbeam School, Bhadohi, bringing together 150+ young chess players from Bhadohi and across Uttar Pradesh. Players from districts including Varanasi, Prayagraj, Ballia, Jaunpur, Mirzapur, Kushinagar, Gonda and Lucknow competed in an exciting and highly competitive rapid chess championship.
The Overall Championship was won by Govind Kumar of Varanasi, with Sparsh Yadav of Prayagraj finishing as Runner-up. In the Girls Category, International Player Aishani Pathak emerged as the winner, while Parikshita Dubey secured the Runner-up position.
The tournament also celebrated emerging talent across age categories. Shresth Srivastav won the Under-17 category, Syed Azlaan Alam topped the Under-13 category, and Viraj Mittal emerged victorious in the Under-9 category. Tejas Yadav of Sunbeam School, Bhadohi was awarded Best Bhadohi Player.
The prize distribution and felicitation ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Shri Brijesh Singh, Chief Treasury Officer, Bhadohi District, who felicitated the winning and participating players for their outstanding performances and sporting spirit.
The ceremony was also attended by FA Aman Kumar Gupta, Secretary, Bhadohi Chess Association, Shri Santosh Kumar, Treasurer, Bhadohi Chess Association, and Shri Abhishek Baranwal, Director, Sunbeam School, whose support and encouragement contributed to the successful organisation of the tournament.
With exciting battles across the board and participation from players representing multiple districts, the 3rd Bhadohi Open Rapid Chess Tournament marked another significant milestone in the growth of competitive chess in Bhadohi and strengthened the district's position as an emerging chess hub in the region.
